A goal by any other name: Effects of different goal elicitation methods on goal pursuit

There are many ways in which researchers ask participants about their personal goals or projects, yet findings subsequently considered interchangeable. This study experimentally tested whether different of asking elicits and impacts reports goal progress. Undergraduate (N = 285) were assigned to one three conditions (personal goals, open-ended goals), listed an unlimited number they currently pursing, rated each on a series characteristics, six weeks later reported Results indicated that significantly more the project condition than other two conditions, these as less difficult. Overall, present provides further insight into effects elicitation methods employed pursuit research.
